The Role:
We're hiring Robot Operator Managers to lead and scale our real-world robotics data collection operations. You will manage a team of Robot Operators responsible for collecting high-quality teleoperation and egocentric data that powers the next generation of world and robotics foundation models.
You'll oversee day-to-day operations, maintain data quality standards, coordinate robot deployments, and drive operational excellence across one or more data collection sites. Working closely with research, engineering, and operations teams, you'll help build and scale one of the world's largest real-world robotics data collection infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities:
1/ Team Leadership & Operations
- Lead, train, and manage a team of Robot Operators across assigned data collection sites
- Plan daily schedules, staffing, and resource allocation across assigned operations
- Monitor team productivity, operational KPIs, and data collection throughput
- Conduct operator onboarding, coaching, performance reviews, and ongoing training
- Manage and oversee distributed teams of remote data operators across Southeast Asia, India, and Latin America, ensuring consistent execution and high-quality data collection
- Monitor the quality, productivity, and protocol compliance of remote operators through regular quality assurance reviews, coaching, and operational feedback
- Ensure compliance with operational procedures and safety standards
- Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
2/ Data Collection Operations
- Oversee teleoperation and egocentric data collection to ensure consistency and quality
- Verify that collection protocols, task scripts, and experimental procedures are followed
- Monitor data quality, metadata completeness, and operational metrics
- Coordinate deployment of operators, robots, and equipment across different environments
- Work closely with engineering teams to identify operational bottlenecks and improve workflows
3/ Robot & Equipment Management
- Manage robot fleet readiness, maintenance schedules, calibration, and inventory
- Coordinate setup of new robot workcells and data collection environments
- Troubleshoot operational issues and escalate technical problems when required
- Ensure robots, sensors, VR systems, and supporting equipment remain operational and well maintained
4/ Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with research and engineering teams to execute new data collection initiatives
- Support rollout of new robots, teleoperation systems, and operational processes
- Provide feedback from field operations to improve hardware, software, and data quality
- Help develop and document scalable operational procedures as Cortex expands globally
Requirements:
- Experience leading operational teams in robotics, manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, automation, or similar environments
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability with a hands-on approach
- Comfortable working with robots, automation equipment, mechanical systems, and hardware
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence
Preferred Experience:
- Experience managing robotics operations, robot data collection, or field operations teams
- Experience with teleoperation systems, industrial robots, automation equipment, or hardware operations
- Familiarity with process optimization, SOP development, and operational metrics
- Experience managing distributed or remote operational teams
- Experience scaling operational teams in a fast-paced startup environment
Work Environment:
- Hybrid of lab-based and onsite workplace operations across industrial, office, and service environments
- Combination of office work, field operations, and hands-on robotics management
