About Origami Robotics

Join a small team building the platform that turns physical robot experience into better behavior. You’ll own a focused infrastructure project used by robotics and ML engineers, work on real systems, and ship something that lasts beyond the internship.

About the Role

As a Robot Operator, you'll work directly with our robotic platforms to produce the training data our models depend on.

You'll use guided control interfaces to move robots through defined task sequences. Each demonstration you record becomes training signal, so how cleanly you execute translates directly into model quality.

This is a shift-based, metrics-driven role. You'll run repeatable workflows, hold a consistent quality bar across long sessions, and help us make the collection process more reliable over time.

On-site in San Francisco

$20-$25 per hour

In This Role, You'll

Operate Robots & Collect Data

  • Run robotic systems through guided control interfaces
  • Execute defined task sequences built for model training
  • Perform repetitive manipulation work without drift in precision
  • Hold a consistent quality standard across every demonstration
  • Hit daily volume and data-quality targets

Monitor Quality

  • Watch for irregular system behavior and escalate it early
  • Review recorded sessions and catch problems before they reach the dataset
  • Give engineering clear, specific feedback on what you observed
  • Suggest workflow changes that improve throughput or reliability

Set Up & Maintain Equipment

  • Help with workstation setup and calibration
  • Handle basic mechanical adjustments and first-pass troubleshooting
  • Keep work areas organized and safe
  • Confirm systems are ready before each shift starts

This role involves extended standing, full use of both arms and hands, strong hand–eye coordination, and sustained attention to fine detail.

We're Looking For Candidates Who

  • Have hands-on experience in a lab, shop, manufacturing, or technical environment
  • Are comfortable working around physical systems and moving equipment
  • Can repeat a task hundreds of times without losing precision
  • Do well in structured, output-driven settings
  • Own their own quality bar rather than waiting to be checked
  • Speak up early when something looks wrong

Nice to have

  • Prior work with robotic systems or human-in-the-loop interfaces
  • Background in assembly, machining, lab work, or skilled trades
  • Comfort with controllers, VR interfaces, or simulation tools

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance

Work Location: In person
